the casa consists of the family house, and for guests, two separate, self contained casitas with a connecting door between the two which enhances the feeling of community. Combined, they have four bedrooms, 3 x twin and 1 double, two small sitting rooms with bed-settee or futon, 2 basic kitchens, and 2 bathrooms.
facilities also include:
the bar and rear terrace where we eat, drink, and do some of the work together,
the splash pool &
surrounding area for the sun,
a terrace overlooking the pool with tables, chairs and umbrellas,
an eclectic but interesting library with online computer
a music/computer room,
a roof terrace……
wireless internet is available in most areas
and we are planning on some kind of gazebo/yurt in the garden but this is as yet subject to some heated discussion and therefore remains an aspiration…… a yurtzebo is a possible outcome.
getting to the casa…
the casa is in los garcias, a small hamlet 2 kilometers from castell de ferro, in Granada province, andalucia…we are approximately 110km from Almeria or 120km from Malaga, our principle airports, about an hour and a half by car.
most of our guests fly to and from Malaga or Almeria with either easyjet or ryanair… if your flight arrives or departs between 10.00 and 18.00 hrs, then after getting into either city bus station by taxi or airport bus, you can get the bus, actually air conditioned coaches, to our village, castell de ferro…
Is of course an option if you are over 25…the actual off-road track to the casa is not clearly signposted, however we usually meet guests in the village and lead them up the rambla and the off road track to the casa
This can be convenient and quite good value if there are 2 or more of you travelling together…
private car & driver hire
Can usually be arranged…again, this is much better value for 2 or 4 people travelling together, particularly if the timing coincides with picking people up…this will need to be arranged in advance…
food and drinks
food is home prepared and cooked, and included in the price you pay. Taking place in the bar and on the back terrace, meals will consist of a continental style breakfast, a cold lunch, tapas in the early evening, and a hot main meal after the sun’s gone down!! There will always be a vegetarian option, but we expect visitors with specialist dietary requirements to let us know. Spain is not great on specialist diets but is improving all the time. Let us know in advance so we can alert you if you need to bring with you any specialist foods or supplements which are not available here.…
we provide bottled water at the casa for drinking; the house water is fine for all other purposes… wine is provided with dinner…and the bar also stocks wine, beer, a reasonable selection of soft or non-alcoholic drinks, and a basic supply of spirits and mixers…as we do not hold a license to sell alcohol, we work as an “honesty” bar, where people mostly serve themselves and note it on their tab…at the end of your stay we collect the money to cover our expenses.
